You already know Johnson Development as the developer of Trinity Falls, but what do you really know about the company itself? Johnson Development is considered to be one of the leaders in the master-planned development industry, winning numerous awards and setting new standards for how neighborhoods are built and what residents can expect.
Launched in 1975 by Larry Johnson, Johnson Development is one of the first developers to put resident lifestyle as its guiding principle for all stages of development. Necessary infrastructure is creatively transformed into community amenities or inviting features. Lifestyle directors are hired very early on — sometimes before the first resident moves in. And well-planned amenities are multi-use, offering a variety of avenues for active and passive recreation. Johnson Development communities boast more than 10,000 acres of parks and open space, 2,000 acres of lakes and wetlands, 235 miles of walking trails, and 30 waterparks and pools. More than 200,000 people call a Johnson Development community home.
Johnson Development has two communities in Dallas-Fort Worth (the other being Viridian in Arlington), one in Atlanta and 15 in Houston. The newest addition to Johnson’s portfolio is Bryson, located in the Austin area. Of these 19 communities, six are listed among the nation’s 50 top-selling master-planned communities — that’s more than any other developer in the nation. And it’s an achievement Johnson Development has earned every year since 2014.
Plus, Johnson Development was simultaneously named Developer of the Year for both the Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth markets in 2019. Both titles were bestowed by industry experts with the builder associations in each market. And more awards this year are likely, with Johnson Development communities a finalist in 23 categories of the Texas Star Awards.
